We love a good southern tradition!
Many of our couples take their vows and celebrate their marriages outdoors, so they will do just about anything to prevent rain on their wedding day.
Why not bury a bottle of bourbon?
To guarantee sunshine and blissfully blue skies when our bride and grooms say their "I do's", they should bury an unopened, full bottle of bourbon at their wedding venue, as close as possible to the spot where they will take their vows. It should be completely full and buried upside down exactly one month before the ceremony. Then on the Big Day, the bourbon is dug up for the bride and groom to enjoy. The folklore tale doesn't specify a certain type of bourbon or size of bottle.
What happens if it rains, you ask?
You’re probably wondering, what happens if it still rains on my wedding day? Dig up that bottle and pour out a glass to your new spouse, family, and your friends. Rain or shine, your wedding day is going to be one of the best days of your life. And due to the contradictory nature of most superstitions, rain on your wedding day is good luck!
