We are so excited to share one of our favorite weddings from the past year on the blog today! The images by Ashley Seawell Photography are absolutely stunning, with the historic Old Medical College as the perfect backdrop.
The planning of Binford and Neil's big day began exactly a year out, starting with a tour of the beautiful Old Medical College in downtown Augusta, Georgia. The sweet pair met while attending the University of Georgia and dated throughout their college years. With both graduating from law school this past spring, what better way to celebrate this next chapter of their lives than by tying the knot at one of Augusta's most historic and beautiful locations?
The ceremony...
The ceremony was held under the gorgeous sweeping fabric of a sailcloth tent pitched on the lawn of the OMC, luckily it was the perfect spring afternoon. To start the ceremony, a groomsman performed one of the bride's favorite childhood songs, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," while the grandmothers and mothers were escorted down the aisle. Binford and Neil exchanged vows under an exquisite floral arch of peonies, orchids, hydrangeas, and roses, which emanated the most intoxicating scent!
Cocktail hour...
After the conclusion of the ceremony, a jazz trio welcomed guests to cocktail hour. Refreshments were served from the sweetest miniature sailcloth bar tent, which included a signature cocktail of peach vodka and lemonade from the bride's sorority days at UGA. Guests mingled while a raw bar and other hors d'oeurves were passed. To invite the guests inside to dinner, the jazz trio performed a spirited live rendition of the UGA battle hymn for the many fans in attendance.
The reception...
The reception took place inside of the Old Medical College, which was elegantly draped to create a more intimate feel. Guests mingled and sat around tables draped in white linen, which were topped with candles and a variety of gorgeous arrangements, from cascading white orchids, to lush arrangements of peonies, hydrangeas, hellebores, and anemones.
The menu for the evening payed homage to the couple's southern roots. Guests were treated to rack of lamb, beef tenderloin, honey laquered duck, and of course shrimp n grits. They were also offered a variety of fresh salads and sides that kept guests happy and full all evening long. The six tiered wedding cake was a variety of flavorful pound cakes and rich butter creams, all iced with a Grand Marnier whipped cream buttercream and topped with sugar lace embellishments and peonies. It was decadent to say the very least!
Once the cake was cut the bride and groom were invited to their first dance to Ellie Goulding's "How Long I Will Love You." After the ten-piece band took the stage, guests danced the rest of the night away! Highlights included the mother and son dance performed by the groom's best friend, the band leading the guests in a countdown dance to the longest married couple (43 years!), and the perfect late night treat, Nuway chili dogs!
At the end of the evening Binford and Neil exited through a shower of fresh rose petals to their limo that whisked them away. It was a pleasure and honor helping such a warm, kind family celebrate such a momentous day in their lives. We wish them the very best in their many years to come!
